The countdown is almost over! Tomorrow I will be embarking on my adventure to Australia; a journey I have been planning in one form or another for the past four years.
Most readers will know that I lived in Australia for a year in 2009. My mom exchanged jobs with a teacher from Mount Gambier, South Australia, where we spent the year. The Australian school year provided lots of opportunity for us to travel and I was very fortunate to see quite a large part of the country. My time in Australia left a huge impression on me and really created the love I have for traveling the world.
Since coming back to Canada, I knew that I would be back in Australia again. I had originally hoped to do a round-the-world trip after graduating university in 2020, but unfortunately that coincided with the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, so I had to put my plans on hold. While I don’t have enough time to do the trip I had envisioned, I am crossing off one thing I wanted to do: circumnavigate the world. On my way back from Australia, I’ll continue flying east, spending a couple days in Dubai before heading home.

I also have a love for trains, and always try and build a train trip into my itinerary wherever possible. This time, I will be riding the legendary Ghan train from Darwin to Adelaide. Next time I’m in this part of the world, I will have to try the Indian Pacific!

I am intending for this blog to be my way of keeping track of everything I get up to, as well as encouragement for me to try new things I wouldn’t normally do (especially so I have interesting things to write about!). I plan on posting every two or three days when I have access to internet, which may be limited as I pass through the outback.
Thank you for following me along on my journey!
